What to Specify on Your Order

Niacin: Confirm nicotinic acid vs niacinamide form — they are distinct with different flush effects and upper intake levels (see Section 52 comparison). Assay % of the specified form.

Biotin: Specify potency (mcg or mg active biotin per gram of powder). The active dose is measured in micrograms — potency specification is critical.

Ascorbic Acid: Specify assay % as L-Ascorbic acid. Confirm packaging protects against oxygen and light. Build in overage based on processing conditions (up to 25–30% overage is common for heat-processed products).

Magnesium L-Threonate: Specify elemental magnesium % per gram, not just total compound weight. Confirm the specific study protocol for which cognitive claims are referenced (Slutsky et al. 2010 animal study vs Liu et al. 2016 human trial — see Section 25).

Documentation Checklist

  • COA confirming assay/potency for each vitamin — must be batch-specific
  • For niacin: form confirmed (nicotinic acid vs niacinamide) on COA
  • For biotin: mcg/g active content confirmed
  • For Vitamin C: assay confirmed; stability/packaging specification reviewed
  • FSSAI-compliant documentation for each product
  • Heavy metals panel requested (particularly relevant for China-sourced biotin and magnesium)

Common Mistakes

Calculating dose from compound weight rather than active content. This is particularly relevant for Magnesium L-Threonate (elemental Mg is much less than total compound weight) and Biotin (where potency varies significantly between grades).

Not building ascorbic acid overage into fortification targets. Heat processing, oxygen exposure, and shelf life will reduce Vitamin C content — finished product must contain the label claim amount at end of shelf life, not just at manufacture.
