Taurine

Taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) is the most abundant sulfur-containing amino acid in mammalian tissues, particularly concentrated in heart muscle, retina, skeletal muscle, and brain. Unlike most amino acids, Taurine is not incorporated into proteins but rather functions as an intracellular osmolyte, antioxidant, calcium modulator, and bile acid conjugate. Its presence in virtually every commercially successful energy drink formula (typically 1000mg per 250mL can) underscores its acceptance as a safe, effective functional ingredient with broad consumer recognition.
